Earl Grey

The combinations that can be created from tea are really amazing. However, there is one recipe that stands out above the rest: Earl Grey. This ancient recipe is based on a blend of any type of tea with an essential oil extracted from the peel of a citrus called bergamot, and is the formula which, amongst all its variations, has the greatest success in the world. Its name comes from the British Foreign Minister at the beginning of the 20th.century, Edward Grey, Viscount Grey of Falodon, who on returning from his diplomatic missions in the Far East in 1916 gave the recipe to a well known English tea company. The firm later christened the tea with the aristocrat’s name as a gesture of appreciation.
