China White Tea

The first white teas appear during the reign of the Song Dynasty. The emperor Hui Zhong, that reigned between 1100-1125 who highly worshiped this tea, already mentions it in his book Treatise on Tea. The white teas that we know today are not like the ones known then, they are the result of a modern manufacture but cleary in their purest form (Bai Hao Yin Zheng or Silver needle) are their direct heirs. They can be classified in three types: traditional ( Bai Hao Yin Zheng, Flowery White Pekoe or Silver needle); modern (Bai mu dan and Shou mei ) and those produced out of origin or even out of China.
